Redditor Writes Sheet Music for 'Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger'

Daft Punk is all about blurring the line between man and machine. So what happens when a human transposes their electronic groove into a traditional score for piano?

Redditor BeamPacer found out, and shared the results with the Internet. You probably won't be surprised to hear they're awesome.

BeamPacer â€" whose real name is Eoin Sinclair â€" used the free online music notation software Noteflight to transcribe the duo's 2001 hit "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" onto sheet music. The process took about a week â€" and he wrote it all by ear.

"I did it over a vacation, when I had nothing else to do," Sinclair said in an email with Mashable. "I just noticed that this song could be played by a solo keyboardist, and I thought it would turn out pretty well, and I had some extra time. I've had fun having it in my repertoire since then."

We've embedded the sheet music for viewing below. Hit the Play button in the top left corner of the applet to hear Noteflight's artificial piano rendition. That's right: an artificial piano playing human-transcribed sheet music of an electronic classic.

Suddenly Daft Punk sounds like funky piano jazz, something you could probably trace to Sinclair's musical background. He studied music heavily from age 4, taking private theory lessons and transitioning from classical to jazz and rock in his teens. After letting this project sit for two years, he posted a video of himself playing it on YouTube last week.

That video, embedded below, already has more than 1.3 million views, and he said he decided to pay back the karma by sharing the sheet music on Reddit. You can hear Daft Punk's original here.

Sinclair, who now works as a mobile engineer, said all his current projects are related to software development. However, he has a transcription of Stanley Jordan's cover of The Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby" lying around that he may post to Reddit in the future.

What song would you like to see BeamPacer transpose next? Let us know in the comments.
