A former Superman is returning to TV but this time playing a hero of a different ... composure.
Brandon Routh is joining the cast of CW's Arrow, playing Ray Palmer, known to most as size-changing DC superhero The Atom.
Routh, whose recent credits include a guest role on Fox's Enlisted, is set to recur in the role when the series starring Stephen Amell returns for Season 3. TVLine first reported the casting.
According to the casting, Ray is the new owner of Queen Consolidated and will be a potential love interest for Emily Bett Rickards' Felicity.
For those unfamiliar with the Atom, he can control his body on a molecular level. While he doesn't fly, his power allows him to shrink so small that he can glide through the air, simulating flight.
While Routh is arguably best known for playing Clark Kent in Superman Returns, on television, his work includes a recurring role on NBC's Chuck (R.I.P.) and a guest spot on The Millers.
Arrow returns to the CW Oct. 8.
