While thousands upon thousands of new products and technologies will be shown off at CES 2013, getting underway just a few days from now, one thing is clear: Without the work of Vint Cerf, we wouldn't be where we are today.

Cerf, who is often called one of "the fathers of the Internet," today works as Google's Chief Internet Evangelist. He's also delivering the keynote address at the Silver Summit conference taking place at the International CES 2013 on Tuesday.
We had a Google Hangout with Cerf, where he talked about the 30th anniversary of the Internet, the evolution of mobile technology, and our reliance on self-driving cars.
But for the older population -- in which he places himself -- he says technology needs to be accessible, easy to use and adaptable. The objective of engineers, he tells Mashable, should be "it should just work."
"People shouldn't have to know how it does all that. You don't have to know how to build an automobile or a television set or a laptop to know how to use it."
