Ringers with a taste for pork pies and coney stew may soon be able to transport themselves to the world of Frodo, Merry, Sam and Pippin with the help of a J.R.R. Tolkien-inspired cookbook.
Entitled Medium Rare And Back Again: A Tolkien Cookbook, the 30-recipe tome would include dishes from the world of iconic fantasy novels, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. But creator Heath Dill hasnât published it yet â" first, heâs looking to fund the book via a Kickstarter campaign.
âI aim to spend, for the initial funding goal, roughly a month and a half in early 2012 researching, cooking, photographing and writing at least 30 recipes,â Dill writes. âThese recipes will cover different part of Tolkienâs world â" light and delicate Elvish recipes like lembas bread, stout roasted Dwarven fare, hearty Hobbit pies and stews, as well as a few oddball recipes like Balrog Wings.â
His blog, Dillicious, already features some Tolkien-themed recipes for breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, afternoon tea, dinner and dessert.
So far, Dill has raised just over $4,200 of his $10,000 campaign goal.
