Who would have guessed â€" the futuristic-looking luxury fireplace industry is booming. Surprisingly, if you can dream it, it can be built. But, most of the time, it’ll cost you.
It seems we’re no longer just content to view the crackling Yule Log on our TVs. These fireplaces even move past the traditional stone and brick models commonly seen today. They run on gas and have controllers to turn them on or off. Some can even be operated from smartphone apps.

The "toughened glass" and stainless steel bench is supposed to give this fireplace an invisible look. It costs $3,490.

This brushed nickel indoor/outdoor portable fireplace looks super sleek, but it's fairly affordable at about $158. Manufactured by Dallas company Southern Enterprises, the portable fireplace uses gel fuel.
This gas fireplace is definitely swanky but what makes it high-tech is that you can control it with an iOS or Android app. Company Escea makes indoor and outdoor fireplaces with a minimalist design.
