Nomad Espresso Machine Delivers Hot Brew Anywhere, No Electricity Required

Espresso lovers, you'll have to agree, there's nothing quite like a steaming cup of that seriously strong coffee in the morning. But sometimes it's just not available, and that's where the Nomad Go Everywhere portable espresso machine excels.

As long as you have access to hot water, you can press out some bracing brew in no time flat.

As long as you have access to hot water, you can press out some bracing brew in no time flat. It's a simple matter of loading up that finely ground dark brew that you crave so much, then pressing hot water through it. After all, "press" is the root of the word espresso, and it works just as well when you do it by hand as it does when it's accomplished electronically.

And with this Kickstarter project, there's no electricity involved, except in the heating of the water, which you'll likely have the capability to do, even when you're camping. In a pinch, you could use the hottest tapwater, but the machine's makers recommend using water at near-boiling temperature.

About the size of a 6-inch cube, the Nomad Go Everywhere can pack nicely in your RV or camping kit, and just like manual lever machines, it can produce nine bars of pressure, thanks to your own minimal physical effort as you actuate that pump lever.

I'm most interested in what the company calls its proprietary "True Crema Valve," which makes it so that "anyone can make great espresso and coffee without having expensive grinding equipment and extensive training."

Ah, yes. There's nothing like that crema, the rich foam on top of a perfectly brewed cup of espresso, adding to that characteristic roasty-toasty flavor. If this nearly electricity free appliance can deliver that as it claims, this machine might be well worth the price of a $165 pledge.

Apparently, there are at least 576 people who agree, because the nomads Kickstarter project has already exceeded its $100,000 goal, garnering 107,072 pledges with 60 hours to go until its deadline.
