Barcelona â" Spotify is coming to Ford Sync AppLink in Europe and the United States.
Ford and Spotify are making the announcement at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. In Europe, Spotify will be coming to the Ford EcoSport later this year.
Ford launched its Ford Developer Program at CES 2013 and in the first four weeks attracted more than 2,500 registered users.
Ford Sync AppLink â" which lets smartphone apps integrate directly into the Ford Sync experience â" is already on over 1 million cars in the United Staes. Now the company is focusing on bringing that same experience to European cars.
Bringing Spotify to the car is a big coup for Ford. Although the music subscription service has already come to certain Volvo vehicles, this is the first time that Spotify has worked directly with an automotive manufacturer.
Ford's Sync AppLink integration with Spotify takes advantage of voice activation, making it safe and convenient.
Spotify will make its way to AppLink in the U.S. in the coming weeks.
We'll be speaking with Ford and Spotify about the partnership later today and bring you our first impressions.
Are you excited about getting Spotify in your car? Let us know in the comments.
